Getting Ready for Spring Break

Getting Ready for Spring Break

January can be a pretty bleak time if you live in the part of the country that sees months of snow and ice. Sometime around the first of December, you probably stopped shaving your legs and started sneaking pieces of the homemade Christmas candy that comes in the mail every other day. We can easily get distracted and stop caring about our appearance. Our dreams of spending our days in the sunshine, splashing in the ocean waves and relaxing on the white sandy beaches seem like an impossible feat…
Before your winter blues turns into full-blown depression from reading that intro, we have something to uplift the spirit. January is the best time to start your new body makeover. I am not talking about a New Year’s resolution to eat less and exercise. What I am talking about is taking proactive steps to make sure you are bathing suit ready by the time spring break rolls around.  Winter is the perfect time to start looking at body enhancing procedures such as liposuction, laser hair removal and skin care treatments.
The process of giving yourself a full body makeover should be started early since recovery can take several weeks for certain procedures, especially if you are choosing to have invasive surgeries. Winter is actually considered the best time to get plastic surgery as the sun is less harsh, patients have more time off from work and they tend to be able to stay indoors and rest more.
There are many treatment options that address any body concerns that you have, but we are going to look at the most common procedures that people ask for when they are getting beach body ready:
Liposuction – Liposuction is a process that removes excess fat cells when the skin has plenty of elasticity. You can get liposuction on many areas of the body including the abdomen, back, and thighs. Liposuction allows for specific areas to be targeted where the surgeon will remove the excess fat deposits so that your body has a natural shape that is smooth and evenly proportioned.  It can take several months for your body to completely heal from a liposuction procedure. You will have minimal scarring that can be covered by a bathing suit.
Non-surgical body procedures – If a surgical procedure is not on your to-do list, there are non-surgical options available. Coolsculpting is a fat-freezing technique that causes fat cells to die and then be naturally (and permanently) eliminated from the body. Coolsculpting can be used to treat several different areas of the body in less than an hour per treatment. There is no downtime, but to see maximum results, you will need to wait up to two months.
Another option available for non-surgical body enhancement is ThermiSmooth. This technique uses a hand-held device to heat skin in targeted areas around the eyes, mouth, cheeks, forehead and neck. It is used to reduce sagging skin around the neck and face while reducing the appearance of wrinkles. It is also used to reduce cellulite. It can take between 3-6 months to see maximum results for this type of procedure.
Skin Care Treatments – Your skin gets dry, dull and flaky during the unkind winter months. To get your skin ready for its springtime debut, our MedSpa offers many treatments from clinical peels to signature treatments given by our licensed medical estheticians. We also carry skin care products that can be used at home to keep your skin smooth and healthy.
Laser Hair Removal – If you hate shaving, especially in the winter, laser hair removal is going to change your life. Using light therapy, the hair is permanently removed in just about any area of the body that you choose. Active hair follicles are heated until they are no longer able to grow. Since the hair has to be in an active growth state before the heat therapy can work, it takes multiple treatments, with each session causing more and more hair follicles to die. Eventually, you will have super smooth skin without ever having to shave again.
Breast Augmentation and LIft – Breast augmentations add volume to your original breasts by inserting an implant into the breast. This helps you to increase cup size and repair asymmetrical breasts. If you have always had a little trouble filling out the top of your bikini, a breast augmentation will give you the fullness you need. Breast lifts, on the other hand, are performed to lift sagging breasts and return them to their natural, perky shape. Your nipple is repositioned and your breasts regain the youthful look they had when you were twenty. Sometimes a breast lift is necessary when doing an augmentation. You will have to wear a support bra for at least two weeks after surgery and stay away from vigorous activity for at least four weeks.
