Top 3 Procedures for a Daddy Do-Over

A mommy makeover is at the top of the list for plastic surgery procedures in 2017. Women want to get back to their pre-baby bodies so they can look and feel younger. And quite frankly, they deserve it! Nine months of pregnancy isn’t easy! But, what about that other person in the equation? You know who I’m talking about? His name is Dad! Men often feel the effects of pregnancy, including morning sickness and gaining pregnancy weight! Add that to the stress of becoming a father, the increased financial worries and the pressure of helping with a newborn, and you have a very frazzled daddy!
It is not surprising in today’s society to find men who are just as worried about their appearance as their wives. They want to look good and feel satisfied with their bodies. So, just like their female counterparts, men are heading to the plastic surgeon for a little help with their problem areas. A daddy do-over is a combination of procedures that can be done together or separately to provide an all-over body enhancement for men. We have listed the top three procedures that men ask for:
Eyelid Lift
An eyelid lift can differ slightly for a man compared to a woman. Since men still want a masculine edge, the surgeon will adjust their technique so that the eyes will not take on a feminine look after surgery. Eyelid lifts can be done on both the lower and upper eyelids. Lower eyelid lifts will remove puffy undereye bags while an upper lift helps to repair droopy lids. Both lifts help you to look younger and less tired. An upper eyelid lift can also help with vision problems that are a result of the sagging eyelid. Many men will combine their eyelid lifts with other surgical and non-surgical procedures that will reduce wrinkles and fine lines to complete their youthful transformation.
Liposuction
Men and women can equally benefit from liposuction. Lipo helps to remove excess fat cells around the abdomen, flanks, arms, chest and thighs. Like all cosmetic procedures, it is not a weight loss tool, but a way to tackle the stubborn fat cells that cannot be removed by diet and exercise alone. If you are curious if liposuction will work for you, consider these three things:

  • Are you within 20 pounds of your goal weight?
  • Is your weight stable? (no yo-yo dieting!)
  • Does your skin sag or is it firm?

Men who want liposuction should be physically fit with only localized deposits of fat that are resistant to exercise. Tight skin will allow for the look you want where loose skin will most likely have to be removed with another procedure such as an abdominoplasty or gynecomastia surgery.
Gynecomastia Surgery
Some men gain sympathy weight during their wife’s pregnancy. It is very easy to enjoy the food freedom right alongside their sweethearts! The problem is that most men will gain more weight than their partner. This means that fathers also have to join their wives in their weight loss efforts after the baby is born. For some men, who already have excess breast tissue, losing weight can cause a worsening of their symptoms.
Gynecomastia is a hormonal imbalance in men that causes the excess tissue. When a man loses an excess amount of weight, the appearance of the “man boobs” becomes more apparent when they are no longer surrounded by fatty tissue. All that is left is loose, sagging skin and tissue that cannot be eliminated with exercise. Gynecomastia surgery is a male breast reduction that will remove the skin and tissue (some surgeons may include liposuction to remove fat cells) and give you a more toned and masculine chest.
Like I said before, these are just three of the procedures that men receive. They are not the only procedures available. Some men will benefit from a tummy tuck instead of liposuction, while some other men choose to go the non-surgical route with procedures like Coolsculpting. Coolsculpting freezes fat cells, causing them to die. The dead cells will then be naturally eliminated from the body. Some men will also choose to have a facelift or a brow lift in combination with their eyelid lifts or forgo surgical procedures for more non-invasive action such as Botox injections or dermal fillers.
