plastic-surgery-consultationWhen we write these blogs posts, we often use terms such as “reversing the clock” or “regaining your youthful appearance,” creating a false image that plastic surgery is only for women above the age of 35. So sorry! No matter what age you are, we know that confidence is everything. Whether you are trying to get a job or looking for Mr. or Ms. Right, your self-confidence will be the difference in succeeding and failing.
The truth is that most plastic surgery procedures can be performed in your early 20s. With that being said, while you CAN have the surgery, it doesn’t mean you SHOULD. Your body changes as you get older, become pregnant or if you gain or lose a lot of weight. This can cause the results of your procedure to change and can cause the need for additional surgery.
We have broken up our most popular procedures into two groups. The first group is procedures that can be done in your 20s without future consequences. The second group contains procedures that would be best a little later in life.
Procedures to Consider in Your 20s
During those mid-20 years, you are ready to enter into the workforce and you want to look and feel your best. If you received a sports injury that left your nose crooked or you were born with a noticeable hump, a nose job will be able to correct these issues and leave you feeling confident and ready for your interviews. Your nose job will be permanent. Rhinoplasty is also available for anyone who suffers from a medical condition, such as a deviated septum, to repair the abnormality so you can breathe better.
Breast Reduction
If you have been blessed (or cursed!) with overly large breasts, you may be experiencing physical problems such as neck pain, back pain, and skin rashes or emotional issues like low self-esteem and a fear of stepping out of your house due to the unwanted gazing eyes of the public. Either way, a breast reduction can help you feel better about yourself and take the weight off your shoulders. Many women worry about the future and wonder if they will be able to breastfeed. Breastfeeding is possible after a breast reduction, but you may have to supplement sometimes with formula.
Skin Care Treatments
Did you suffer from acne through your teenage years? If so, professional skin care treatments can reduce the redness and scarring that was left behind. Do you still have frequent or occasional breakouts? Investing in a medical-grade skin care treatment program can help you reduce the number of breakouts and will keep your skin healthy and hydrated which helps to delay aging. Dermal fillers and Botox are also popular procedures that help to keep deep wrinkles from forming.
Procedures to Consider Waiting On
Tummy Tuck/Liposuction
Tummy tucks and liposuction are meant to be long term solutions to the problems of excess fat and loose skin. If you are still in your early 20s, it is very likely that your lifestyle will change. Your metabolism may slow down or you may have a couple of children. During pregnancy, your stomach stretches and loosens the skin and muscles that have been tightened during your tummy tuck. It is usually recommended that a woman wait until she is sure she is finished having babies before getting a tummy tuck. There is an exception: if you have lost a considerable amount of weight, you will probably want to remove the excess skin to prevent medical conditions like rashes and back pain.
Breast Augmentation
Just like with a tummy tuck, waiting until after you have delivered and weaned your final child is the best time to have a breast augmentation. If you have breast implants during your 20s, the chance of breastfeeding is still good. It is the effects of the pregnancy on your breasts that may be a problem. Your breasts will become enlarged, stretching as you produce milk, and then will deflate after your milk production stops. Your breasts may become saggy and you will require additional surgery to lift them back up.  Of course if you do not plan on having children or If you understand and accept the fact you might need to have another surgery it is fine to have a breast augmentation in your 20s.
