LightSheer Laser Hair Removal

LightSheer Laser Hair Removal

Beach season is just around the corner! If you are like us, you are doing a little happy dance right now! After a long, brutal winter, it is time to let our skin breath and soak up some Vitamin D in that warm sunshine! To get your skin ready for shorts and tank tops, you may want to consider pampering yourself a bit. One way to do that is laser hair removal or, as we like to call it, LHS treatments. In fact, we are offering a special in our MedSpa this month to help you get started! So, for the entire month of April, you can visit our MedSpa and receive a free LHS underarm treatment!

You may have thought LHS treatments are just for the legs, but this is not the case at all. In fact, common treatment areas include:

  • Back
  • Full legs
  • Forearms
  • Underarms
  • Bikini
  • Chin

You can get smooth, radiant skin anywhere that unwanted hair grows! So, how does this happen? By using light energy, the LightSheer device targets the entire hair structure including the follicle and hair shaft. The light energy heats up the hair follicle, which is actually part of the skin, causing the follicle to die. The death of the follicle means the hair will no longer grow in that area.

Does It Hurt?

While the hair follicle does experience an intense and rapid heating, the LightSheer device combines a cooling technology with the light waves so that patients are comfortable during their treatments. Laser hair treatment is considered safe even for sensitive skin. The side effects are mild and after the procedure, you might experience some redness and swelling, similar to a mild sunburn. These side effects may last for a day or two but you should be able to return to normal activities immediately after your procedure.

How Long Will the Treatment Take?

The great thing about LightSheer’s cooling technology is that you can stay comfortable for longer periods of time, which means the treatments can last longer, be more effective and will produce better results. Before LightSheer technology, removing hair from large areas such as the back or legs could be painful, expensive, and time-consuming. With the LightSheer though, treatments for those large areas can be done in as little as ten to fifteen minutes, without any need for gels, anesthetics, or other preparation. At the same time, the LightSheer’s flexibility allows it to treat the more delicate face or bikini region just as quickly.

Can I Get Rid Of All My Unwanted Hair In One Treatment?

LHS treatments will only work if your hair is actively growing. So, it will take several treatments to get all of your hair follicles. Most people see permanent results after an area has been treated three to six times. This will depend on several factors including your skin type, the color of the hair and type of hair being removed. The laser’s wavelength, pulse duration and spot size determine the effectiveness of the treatment (on all skin types) and also influence the depth of penetration and treatment speed. These are all factors that will determine how many treatments you will need. You will not be able to schedule your sessions back to back. It is recommended that you wait at least 4 to 6 weeks between treatments to let your remaining hair follicles begin to grow. The treatment is permanent, but, most likely, you will never get all of the hair follicles. LHS treatments will greatly reduce the amount of hair follicles that you have, you will not have to shave anymore and you will not have noticeable hair growth.

April is going to be the best time to try laser hair removal treatments. If you schedule a full area, such as your legs or back, then you will get a free LHS treatment for your underarms! This is an awesome way to begin to get ready for the beach or the pool! Your treatments can be done on the same day and you can get back to your normal activities immediately.
