New! Excel V+ by Cutera Helps Reverse the Effects of Time

Over the years, let’s face it – our skin takes a beating from sun exposure, age-related changes, stress and other factors. No matter how young you feel, your skin can make you look years older than you are – or wish to look.

Our new Excel V+ by Cutera laser technology safely and effectively treats the factors that age you: fine-line wrinkles, age spots, diffuse and excessive redness, enlarged pores, uneven skin texture and scars.

What is Excel V+?

Excel V+ is the latest generation laser technology for vascular and pigmentation treatments, developed with input from leading dermatologists. Excel V+ has the power and precision to safely and effectively treat skin conditions from challenging vascular and pigmentary discoloration to today’s most common skin concerns. With our Excel V+ laser in two wavelengths, we can treat large spot sizes up to 16 mm.

Who needs Excel V+ treatment?

According to recent research, many people are affected by skin conditions that Excel V+ can address:

  • 415 million people suffer from rosacea.*
  • 84% of the population has spider veins.
  • 40% of the population suffers from pigment concerns.

*Note: Rosacea is chronic and cannot be “cured” with any laser or light source; however, its appearance can be improved.

Pigmentation and sun-damaged skin

As we age, we start to notice the cumulative effects of sun damage. These include various types of pigment, tone and textural issues. Unwanted freckles and age spots can cause the skin to appear dull, uneven and aged.

Discrete pigmented lesions, whether freckles, lentigines or age spots, require individualized treatment options. Before treatment, we’ll discuss your specific treatment options with you.

How does Excel V+ work?

Our Excel V+ laser delivers wavelengths that are absorbed by the chromophores (the part of a molecule responsible for its color) of browns and reds, as well as fine lines and wrinkles: melanin, oxyhemoglobin and water.

During treatment, we can adjust spot sizes in 0.5 mm and 1 mm increments to precisely match spot size to the treatment area – eliminating unnecessary collateral tissue damage.

The treatments address skin imperfections and stimulate collagen regrowth by gently heating the upper dermis well below your skin’s surface. Dilated capillaries receive additional heat to reduce redness. Excel V+ delivers consistent contact cooling before, during and after each pulse. The cooling temperature will be adjusted to a level that’s comfortable for you.

These non-surgical treatments can be performed in a relaxed, comfortable manner without the use of topical anesthetics or gel.

After the procedure

Immediately following treatment, brown spots will start to darken, and your skin may appear slightly red. The treated area may be mildly swollen. Don’t be alarmed! This typically lasts a few hours and possibly a day or longer. You can apply makeup to cover the redness.

Within one to three weeks, the darkened spots will flake off and fade. Diffuse redness will decrease, and your complexion will improve.

After treatment, you should avoid sun exposure. Always apply broad-spectrum sunscreen when outdoors to minimize sun damage and the appearance of new spots and diffuse redness. If you experience new sun damage, new brown spots and diffuse redness may appear; however, they too can be treated.

The results you will see

Generally, patients achieve the best results over the course of four to six treatments. Gradually, you will see how Excel V+ helps restore your skin’s youthful glow and appearance. The treatments smooth out uneven skin texture caused by aging, sun damage or scars.

If you have large pores, they will be reduced in size, and other minor imperfections will be corrected. Although each treatment will produce rather subtle results, each treatment will build on the previous improvements to create a dramatic overall effect.

Few side effects

You can expect to see subtle yet consistent results after each treatment, without unwanted side effects such as bruising or excessive skin irritation. However, you may notice a slight redness and swelling, similar to sunburn. These effects typically last for several hours or less. In rare instances, blistering may occur.
