Jacob D. Smith, M.D. is a board-eligible plastic surgeon providing plastic and reconstructive services in Kansas City. He combines New York City training with compassionate individualized care.
Dr. Smith offers a variety of cosmetic and reconstructive procedures for the face and body. His areas of interest include skin and breast cancer reconstruction, breast reduction, body contouring, rhinoplasty, and facial rejuvenation. “Regardless of the technique, the best part of any procedure is seeing the difference it makes on how a patient looks and feels.”
Because each patient is unique, Dr. Smith believes that the first step to successful surgery is good communication. “The conversation that takes place in the office is just as important as what happens in the operating room.” His philosophy is to treat each patient with as much care as he would his own family, and to not leave the operating room until he is happy with the result.
Born and raised in Kansas City, Dr. Smith attended the Pembroke Hill School before he traveled to California to earn an undergraduate degree in biomechanical engineering at Stanford University. He returned to his hometown to study medicine at the University of Kansas School of Medicine where he discovered his passion for plastic surgery.
He then completed a six-year integrated plastic surgery residency at the Hofstra/Northwell School of Medicine in New York. There he served as chief resident at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan and at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park. He trained under some of the premier experts in plastic surgery and now applies the skills he learned towards a wide range of reconstructive and aesthetic procedures.
When not in the operating room or the office, Dr. Smith enjoys spending time with his extended family, working out, reading sci-fi/fantasy novels, and walking the Tomahawk Creek Trail with his wife and their dog.
